What is Århus Filmværksted? (Århus Film Workshop)

Århus Film Workshop is an association which supports non-commercial media productions in the fields of video, film, sound and slides. Members of the association are entitled to use the facilities of the film workshop (recording equipment, editing time etc.). Every month the Project Committee goes through the applications received and chooses the projects which will be granted support. In other words membership of the association Århus Film Workshop is required in order to obtain support.
The membership fee is presently 300.- Danish kroner per year (one general assembly term).

If support is granted a production agreement is signed, stating the details of the use of equipment and facilities, and at this time applicants who are not already members of Århus Film Workshop have to become members. Thereby they obtain "user status".

The economic basis of the work done at the workshop is partly financial subsidies, primarily from the Municipality of Århus, partly earnings from the workshop's productions. The film workshop is governed by a board. Three board members are elected at the annual general assembly, and two are appointed as representatives of the rest of the cultural, film and video community in Århus.

The Project Committee consists of four users elected at the general assembly and two employee representatives. The committee decides for itself which productions it wishes to support, but of course there are physical limits to the number of applications it can approve and to the extent of support for the individual production. This means that the extent of the support granted is not predetermined, but is decided depending on the project in question.

In connection with support Århus Film Workshop appoints a contact person with whom the applicant arranges the practical details of the production process. This is done in collaboration with the production manager at Århus Film Workshop.
