About Indvandrer TV

INDVANDRER TV is a non commercial tv-station, based at the Mediehuset / Media House in Aarhus City, and broadcasting in Aarhus County, Denmark.

INDVANDRER TV (ITV) / MIGRANT TV was founded by several ethnic organisations in January 1997. The idea was to produce television that was committed to the ethnic minorities cause, and was fighting against discrimination and racism in the danish society.

In 1997 Indvandrer TV and Media House Århus started a cooperation with the purpose to give ethnic minorities a chance to speak up and become more visible in the danish media landscape.  ITV was the first multicultural tv-station in Denmark.

ITV has been broadcasting since 1997 and has since then been a serious alternative to the established press, with a diferent way of showing news and multicultural tv-programs. The idea is to build bridges between the ethnic minority groups and the danish society and show which positiv contribute ethnic minorities can give to the danish society. Until now is ITV a kind of integration tv-station.

ITV has about 20 people working at the tv-station.Most of them are working as volonteers. They all come from different nations and our team has been since the beginning a multicultural team and this philosophy is still valid today. Working at ITV is a very hectic, creative, challenging, stimulating, chaotic experience. ITV provides multilingual news, music and cultural and current affairs programmes, catering for target groups ignored by the mainstream media.

ITV is organized around production groups. Each group consits of journalists, producers, camera, sound and editing people. Every manday at 9.15 am is editorial meeting.

Until now ITV has been supported by the Danish Ministry of Culture and foundations.

We broadcast at Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and in 2006 we produce 3 hours a week. We have many different types of programmes:
